My name is Brittany Barranca, I am 36 years young enrolled member of SRPMIC. My husband Luis and I are the proud parents of 4 beautiful children which whom all have and are currently attending ECEC. Our oldest McKayden is 15 years old and thriving in IB and AVID programs at Westwood High School. Our daughter Penelope is 11 years old and is excitingly finishing her last year of elementary at Benjamin Franklin East. Our 3 and 1½ year old are currently at ECEC. I have been employed for almost 3 years with Community Development Department as the Residential Resources Secretary. I was a Blackjack dealer for 6 ½ years for both Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort.
As the role of Policy Council, I see a group of collected individuals assembled to make the best, most respected and safest decisions for our children. I have always been invested in devoting my time volunteering in our older children’s classrooms, school libraries and helping teachers who need an extra hand. I am familiar with classrooms, keeping myself busy and unseen when I am helping. I also have a personal belief in education being a huge role in our children’s lives in every aspect of growing, whether it be socially or fundamentally. It’s very important for children to be present.
As far as skills, I am absolutely available to learn, grow within myself and for our kids and the Community. I have great communication skills. I can help deescalate any situation in every sense. I can listen to issues, problems and concerns with a great ear and find helpful solutions. I am understanding and can empathize yet be firm enough to not take things personally. I am willing to take on challenges, make the best and safest decision for Salt River School. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hello, I am Marianne Cashoya, a member of SRPMIC. I have guardianship of my two great nephews since they were babies. The oldest is in Kindergarten and the other attends ECEC in the preschool program. We have been a part of the ECEC family for the past several years. I am currently employed with the Gaming enterprises as the Casino Audit Manager and have been with the company for 14 years.
I am hoping to continue to be a part of the Policy Council. I feel the first year serving on Policy Council, especially this last year, was more of a learning process. While a bit difficult, I would like to continue to help make changes for the families, to be a part of the communication and changes happening at ECEC.
I see the role of the Policy Council is to approve changes, review budgets and policies as needed. Help council ECEC staff in implementing new policies and changes to daily routines. In addition, to share any of these changes and updates to ECEC families as needed.
The skills, experience I provide to the Policy Council is my Master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. My work experience includes looking at budgets and finances, to work with and as a group. Raising young children helps me focus on what is important for them and to them.

Hi I’m Jocy Goseyun, a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and my family is here in Salt River. My daughter is in the Early Head Start at ECEC and she is my world. My desire is to provide the best life I can for her and my family. I just completed my HVAC schooling and now am working that field. I love sports, anyone who knows me can attest to it.
Why I am interested in joining Policy Council is to be familiar with the policy and decision making and communicate to others. I also want to promote the culture aspect that is included in their education at ECEC. I am big on learning the language and songs. I know about my Apache side but am learning my daughter’s as well.
The role of Policy Council is to be informative to the general public; considering changes, looking at option, voicing our thoughts. Not arguing but being productive and listening, really hearing; be a good communicator. If we get the parents/guardians involved in their child’s education then it is a smoother transitions all around.
The skills and life experience I provide to the Policy Council is working with children since I was in high school. The different roles have included coaching and babysitting. My sister has special needs, cerebral palsy. When she’d have a seizure and I learned how to take care her in that state and to be there to provide comfort. These skills I also use in sports and the activity aspect such as little league, basketball and football. I love involving the kids and to help them see a different light and different atmosphere; to create and be a positive outlet for them.

Policy Council is important, you are helping make decisions for the children. It is awesome to be included in those conversations and decisions.
If I am elected as Policy Council representative, I will used my 10 years of medical assistant experience and education. How this is important because Head Start has requirements and protocols in the area health, including hearing, vision, healthy eating and overall health of the children.
