The safety of our students, staff, and Community is our top priority at Salt River Schools. This letter is to inform you that the Early Childhood Education Center will transition to remote learning beginning Monday, Sept. 13. The ECEC will return to in-person learning Monday, Sept. 27.

The decision to transition to remote learning was made out of an abundance of caution with the input of the SRPMIC Epidemiologist and the ECEC site leader. Over the last week, ECEC students have been impacted or potentially exposed to a variety of viruses, including Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Herpangina, and COVID-19. Please monitor your child’s health and consult with your family doctor if you have any concerns. Click here to view the symptoms of these viruses, which were included in the notices we sent home over the last week.

To ensure a successful remote learning experience, ECEC children will be sent home today with lesson plans and learning supplies. Please email your child’s teacher or Family Advocate if more supplies are needed.

The following supports will be put in place:

  • Call the ECEC anytime for support or with questions: 480-362-2200.
  • Public Works will disinfect ECEC classrooms and playgrounds over the next week.
  • ECEC staff will work remotely from Sept. 13-17 and will be able to support families via phone, email, and MS Teams during this time.
  • Staff will return to the ECEC beginning Sept. 20 in order to offer drive-thru/curbside supports (learning supplies, diapers, wipes, etc.) for families.
  • MEALS: During the next two weeks, Salt River Schools Food Services will offer curbside breakfast and lunch meals weekdays from 10-11:30 a.m. (via the ECEC Cafetorium). Meals are available to any youth ages 18 and younger, regardless of where they attend school. Meal delivery is not available at this time. If you have questions about meals, please call 480-362-2242, or email catering@saltriverschools.org.

This decision does not impact students and staff at Salt River Elementary School or the Accelerated Learning Academy. Those schools will continue to operate in person as scheduled. Please be aware of and follow all safety protocols in place.

If there are any questions about student learning, please contact the ECEC at 480-362-2200.

Thank you.
