Celebrate our Head Start students rising to Kindergarten next year! Based on family feedback regarding the timing of our event, the promotion ceremony will be held Tuesday, May 14, from 4-6 p.m. 

The celebration will take place in the Accelerated Learning Academy gymnasium. Park in the lot south of the football field along Highland Avenue. Please allow enough time to park*. A designated adult and student will gather in the dance room; please arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the scheduled time below.

We'll follow the schedule below (scroll down for specific classroom times):

  • 4PM: Cougar, Turtle & Cottontail
  • 5PM: Eagle, Bear, Butterfly & Quail

Light refreshments will be available. Please note that the SRPMIC Gang Ordinance and its dress code will be enforced. Click here to learn about the ordinance.

*Dropping off guests: A fire lane is available just outside the gym entrance. NO PARKING permitted - it is for drop off and emergency vehicles only.

This is a smoke-free, drug-free event and the Community's gang ordinance will be enforced.

Ceremony: Be on time, the program includes an emcee, welcome, and prayer, then the student presentation. The students are young, and it may be their first time on a stage. Let us be supportive and kind as we gather to celebrate the students.

Schedule: Presentation of Students

  • Cougar 4:10 p.m.
  • Turtle 4:25 p.m.
  • Cottontail 4:40 p.m.
  • Eagle 5:10 p.m.
  • Bear 5:25 p.m.
  • Butterfly 5:40 p.m.
  • Quail: 6:00 p.m.

Sign Out: After each class completes the presentation, they will proceed to the back of the gym, and the designated adult will sign out the student.

Transportation: Families will need to transport students to the ceremony. If transportation is a concern, families should consider transit, rideshare, family and friends.

Parking: Is available off Highland Road between Country Club Drive and Center Street. Follow the signage, the first section of the parking lot is the handicap/elder parking. Other guests can park in the remaining spaces. The nearby residential area is not designated as parking. Walk on the sidewalk and use the crosswalk when crossing the street.

Guest Drop-Off: Is available at the bus area, this is a Drop-off & Fire Lane. This is a NO PARKING zone, will used by emergency vehicles only.

Entrance/Exit: All guests will be directed through the doors that lead to the ALA gym. No other gates or doors will be used for an entrance or exit.

Promoting Student Staging and Drop Off: Located in the Dance Room, just to the right of the ALA gym entrance. About 10-15 minutes before the ceremony students and one designated adult (the adult will stay with the student during the staging and drop off). When it is time, adults will say goodbye to students and find their seats. The designated adult will also be the person to sign out the student after the ceremony.

Hair Assistance/Touch-Ups: Please arrive early the volunteers will help style hair.

Attire: Don’t forget the graduation cap. Students are encouraged to wear traditional attire, no gown is provided. *ECEC is accepting traditional clothing donations, please drop it off at the ECEC Front Desk by Friday afternoon. If you need traditional clothing contact your Family Advocate.

Social Emotional Support: If your student needs a moment, ECEC staff can assist families/students in the wrestling room.

General Seating: This is on a first-come, first-served basis; you may bring your chairs by cannot block the aisle and procession line. Elder seating is available in front of the stage, please let an ECEC Staff member know if you need help. The bleachers will be available for additional seating. If you bring balloons, please do not obstruct the view of others.

Vendors: The Salt River Youth Council, Birds Singing and Dancing by the River, the Reina Family, and Lewis Creation will be at the back of the gym selling items. Each vendor determines the method of payment. ECEC is not responsible for the items purchased, you buy at your discretion.

Gang Ordinance: Following the Community’s ordinance, no gang attire is permitted. The Salt River Schools Resource Officer and School Security Team will be attending. When in doubt, please don’t wear it.
