This message is to inform you that the ECEC Health Office is currently without a dedicated staff member. While our leadership works to fill the open position as quickly as possible, we want to assure you that your child’s safety and wellness is our top priority.
The following protocols are in place to respond to any health-related issues that may arise:
- All ECEC staff are trained in basic First Aid and CPR and are prepared to respond to minor injuries and health concerns.
- Designated staff are trained to administer medication*.
- 911 will be called in an emergency, or if doctor’s orders for care/medication are not on file.
*If your child has allergies, takes medication during the day, or has other medical needs, please make sure we have all required medical documentation, including clear, written instructions from your child’s healthcare provider. Having current and complete information allows our staff to properly support your child’s health while they are at school.
To support a safe and healthy learning environment, we need your help to ensure children exhibiting symptoms of illness are being kept home from school (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, etc.). If you are unsure, talk to your child’s healthcare provider or give our front office a call at 480-362-2200.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Dear ECEC Families: The health and safety of children are top priorities at the Early Childhood Education Center, and we were recently made aware that one of our students has a confirmed case of the flu, also known as Influenza. Without violating the confidentiality of this child, the information you need to know about this condition and our campus policies regarding child illnesses are below.
Please check your child for signs of illness before bringing them to school, as germs spread quickly among curious hands, feet, and mouths. Our commitment to the wellbeing of children and staff means all classrooms are cleaned and sanitized daily to prevent the spread of germs. When we see an uptick in cases, our custodial partners at Public Works deep clean the spaces that need it most. We appreciate their efforts to keeping our campus clean and safe.
What is Influenza? A contagious disease caused by a group of respiratory viruses.
Signs or symptoms may include: Sudden fever or a headache; stuffy nose, pinkeye (conjunctivitis); low energy; croup (barky cough and hoarseness), bronchiolitis (wheezing and runny nose), pneumonia; and/or a combination of nausea and/or vomiting + runny nose, cough, and/or sore throat.
How is it spread? Respiratory route (e.g., talking, coughing, sneezing), or direct contact (touching someone who is sick or contaminated surfaces)
How do you control it?
- Teach children to cover their mouths and noses with a tissue when they sneeze or cough or to use their shoulder/elbow if no tissues are available.
- Teach everyone to wash their hands, especially after coughing/sneezing or changing diapers, to prevent the spread of disease.
Click here to learn more about the flu. If your child has any of these symptoms, please see your healthcare provider. Children with the flu must be kept home.
A doctor’s note is needed before your child can return to school. Contact the ECEC Health Office or Assistant ECE Leader Tianee Lane with any questions at 480-362-2200.
